Independence Day, 17 August 201
17th August is an important occasion for people in Munduk Village, as it’s the anniversary of Indonesian Independence, 65 years ago. One of Puri Lumbung missions is to support village-based sustainable development. One of the ways we do this is by fostering good relationships and solidarity with the local community. Every year, Puri Lumbung organizes Independence Day celebration with a distinct theme. This year’s theme was three-pronged: “food conservation, good public relations, and empowering village communities”. We held a “food fair” for which we invited farmers’ wives to cook and present Munduk style dishes. We invited and honored veterans and senior citizens. We also welcomed guests and local families to enjoy music, traditional games and competitions. One of the highlights was the traditional panjat pinang, were children climbed a pinang tree pole to pull and win presents hanging from the top. Many laughs were had by all. The celebration lasted all morning and concluded with collective cleaning by our Staff
“Melaspas” Blessing Ceremony, 29 September 2010
This day was very special for Puri Lumbung Staff & family. Based on the Balinese Calendar, it was a good day to hold Melaspas for our new Healing Spa, Taman Padi Pavilion, and additional cottage. Melaspas, or blessing ceremony, started at 9.00 am ending at 4.00 pm. We hope our guests will be happier as we provide more facilities for them to enjoy the charm and beauty of Munduk and its surroundings
Reforesting at Tamblingan area, 2 – 4 October 2010
Balinese believe that nature consists of 5 elements: space, fire/sun, air, water, and earth. To live in harmony these elements must be in balance. Water is very important as its presence is all encompassing in both nature and the human body. It is, thus, crucial we protect and preserve it for the sake of the continuity of our lives and that of other creatures. We feel very happy and blessed to live near Tamblingan Lake. In our gratitude to God for this, we are committed to promote and engage in environmental conservation. Puri Lumbung Staff together with the Subak Community of Munduk Village held reforesting activities at Tamblingan from 2 October until 4 October, 2010. We start this activity in the morning with praying together at Dalem Temple and Ndek Temple then continue with plating the 700 trees in this area. We ended the program with lunch together and relive that we did something for the earth !
